  4. How to install the Adobe Illustrator 7.0.1 Update
  5. Before you begin, make sure that the folder containing your Adobe Illustrator 7.0 application, and the Adobe Illustrator application itself are named Adobe Illustrator 7.0.  It is also important that all the folders that were originally installed with Adobe Illustrator 7.0 were not renamed or moved.  If folder, plugin or application names were changed it is necessary to reinstall Adobe Illustrator 7.0 before you can install Adobe Illustrator 7.0.1 with this updater.

  7. 1. Disable all virus protection software.
  8. 2. Double-click the Adobe Illustrator 7.0.1 Update application.
  9. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

  11. After completing the update and launching Adobe Illustrator 7.0.1, choose "About Illustrator..." from the Apple menu and you will see "7.0.1" below the Venus image on the right side of the Adobe Illustrator 7.0 splash screen.

  13. Note:  This update is only for the U.S. English version of Adobe Illustrator 7.0.  If you have a localized language version of Adobe Illustrator you will have to wait until the appropriate update is available.  Check Adobe online services regularly for availability.

This update is available from Adobe online services, including the Adobe Web site (http://www.adobe.com), the Adobe FTP site (ftp://ftp.adobe.com) and Adobe BBS.  If you would like to replace your application CD with a 7.0.1 application CD, a new CD can be obtained for a shipping and handling charge of $19.95 in the US ($24.95 in Canada) by calling 800-492-3623. Outside the US and Canada, contact your local Adobe distributor for pricing and availability.

  28. 7.0.1 Changes
  29. The 7.01 update introduces some feature enhancements as well as fixes for a variety of minor problems that were discovered after Illustrator 7.0 shipped. Please refer to the Read Me document that is installed with the 7.0.1 update for more detailed information on Illustrator's new features.

  32. • Enhancements to the swatch palette include the capability to now edit spot and process colors via the Swatch Options dialog box and the addition of the Add All Used Spot Colors command.
  33. • Auto-activation of Type 1 fonts is now supported. (Note: auto-activation of MM fonts is not supported.)
  34. • The effectiveness of the spell checker was improved.
  35. • The Macintosh version now exports WMF.
  36. • GIF export now supports diffusion dither.
  37. • JPEG exports now support image maps.

  39. Fixes to Problems in 7.0
  40. • Printing problems when placing EPS files in Quark and PageMaker have been resolved
  41. • Problems encountered when reopening files saved as version 6.0 from 7.0 have been resolved.
  42. • Most option/alt characters are now supported.
  43. • Older fonts are now accessible from the font list.
  44. • WYSIWYG printing is now supported as stated in the documentation.
  45. • PCL printing quality is improved.
  46. • Problems encountered when printing to Scitex imagesetters are now resolved.
